why 100% recycled matters
Aluminis

"The incorporation of recycled materials in the production of new products reduces the need to extract new raw materials, requires less energy, reduces the volume of waste and avoids the associated pollution"

(Climate Action Accelerator - a not-for-profit aiming to contain global warming below 2°C)

All "aluminium bottles" are not sustainable! â€‹

Whilst every "aluminium bottle" is light & recyclable, virgin aluminium has a toxic environmental impact.  100% recycled content is key to being a more sustainable, lower impact solution:

  • Every 1 tonne of virgin aluminium creates 4 tonnes of 'bauxite tailings', a toxic waste known as Red Mud

  • Red Mud is a severe threat to wildlife and ecosystems, with a long and poor record of hazardous ecological damage poisoning the land, environment and food chain

  • Bauxite ore mining destroys biodiverse habitats like rainforests, also creating high demand for water usage in water stressed areas

  • Virgin aluminium requires huge amounts of energy to manufacture, generally generating around 20 times the CO2 emissions of 100% recycled aluminium

 What does "100% post-consumer recycled" mean? â€‹â€‹

Aluminis are made from high purity aluminium products that have reached the end of their useful economic life. By re-using this valuable post-consumer scrap metal - instead of sending it to landfill and extracting new virgin aluminium from the planet - we contribute to a more circular economy, significantly reducing the carbon footprint and environmental impact of the bottle.

100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) aluminium is the only low impact, sustainable 'aluminium bottle'
